About the School
Janatha Upper Primary School, Varandarappilly, was established on 1st June 1962 with the noble vision of bringing the light of education and culture to the rural community. The school emerged as a beacon of hope for students who earlier faced uncertainty after completing Standard IV.
Over the decades, the institution has played a vital role in the educational and cultural advancement of the region and has produced several distinguished individuals who have contributed meaningfully to political, cultural, and social life.
Under the Management of Vivekananda Trust
Since coming under the management of the Vivekananda Educational & Cultural Charitable Trust, Kodakara, the school has witnessed steady progress. The Trust has supported initiatives such as campus renovation, strengthening of library facilities, and establishment of a computer lab, helping the institution remain relevant and responsive to changing educational needs.
The School Today
At present, Janatha Upper Primary School functions under the Cherpu Educational Sub-District, offering education in Standards V, VI, and VII across four divisions, with student strength of over 100. The academic and administrative activities are supported by seven teaching staff and one non-teaching staff.
The school’s present Manager is Sri. K. R. Dinesan, Director of the Vivekananda Educational & Cultural Charitable Trust, Kodakara. The active cooperation of the PTA and MPTA continues to strengthen the school’s functioning and overall development.

Janatha Upper Primary School is committed to social transformation through education, with special focus on children from underprivileged backgrounds in Varandarappilly village. The institution follows an educational approach that is life-oriented, scientific, and secular, enabling students to grow with dignity, self-respect, and confidence.
